Never-Ending Love Letter

-and just for a moment, the world stands still. Watching, listening, admiring every detail on your face, wave in your hair, and crease in your skin. The tangible constant joy for life exuding from you being merges with my stubborn, pessimistic self, and I suddenly feel alive again. It’s the way you grab my hand when I’ve had enough of the world and bring me back to focus. The way in which your subtle glances in a crowded room still send shivers down my spine, despite our years of togetherness. I knew from the moment I met you, you were meant to be mine. When I needed a friend, a companion, a lover you were there. But most importantly you listened; listened when I felt lost in this tumultuous world with nowhere to turn. And it came without judgment, criticism, or fear. The world suddenly got a little brighter and the pain and shame I once felt were washed away by your compassion and love. Now, knowing that you’re with me I stand taller with a smile trying to mimic your incredible self, never once wallowing in self-doubt. No matter where I end up or who I meet, your love has transformed my life for the better. With every step I take, I remember to “stand tall beautiful”, like you reassured me so many of times. I can’t thank you for every bit of confidence or piece of hope you’ve given me for my life, but I can give thanks for the laughter you provide and the lessons you teach. For always encouraging me to just be myself, and flourish in the garden that is life. To just keep on growing, laughing, and forgetting the past that used to haunt me. Honestly, I’ll never be -
